Tesla App Helps Police Locate Suspect in West Melbourne Domestic Strangulation Case
WEST MELBOURNE, Fla. — A West Melbourne man accused of strangling and assaulting a domestic partner was tracked and apprehended with the help of a Tesla smartphone application, according to a probable cause affidavit filed by the West Melbourne Police Department. Henry Francisco Angulo, 39, was arrested on February 5, 2026, and booked into the Brevard County Jail.
What Happened
According to the affidavit, Angulo and the victim became involved in a verbal dispute over finances. Police allege Angulo struck the victim in the face, spit on the victim, pinned the victim to the floor, and choked the victim for approximately 30 seconds by applying pressure to the throat with both his hand and arm. The arrest paperwork lists the case as no bond at the time of filing.
How Police Found Him
After the incident, Angulo left the scene. Investigators used data from a Tesla mobile app to track and locate him, according to the affidavit. The technology allowed police to determine Angulo’s location, leading to his arrest the same day the warrant was sought.
Charges Filed
Angulo faces a domestic violence-related charge of battery by strangulation under Florida Statute 784.041(1). The West Melbourne Police Department conducted the investigation.
As with all criminal cases, the charges filed against Henry Francisco Angulo are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
