COCOA BEACH, Fla. — A 69-year-old man from Pennsylvania was arrested on Monday after Cocoa Beach Police say he exposed himself to a young child on the beach in Brevard County, Florida.
According to a press release issued by the Cocoa Beach Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 11:23 a.m. on March 9, 2026, to the area of 1600 North Atlantic Avenue following a report that an older male had allegedly exposed himself to a seven-year-old child.
Police say the suspect fled the scene immediately following the incident, running westbound across North Atlantic Avenue. The child’s father and a nearby bystander pursued the man on foot as he attempted to leave the area.
Responding officers and detectives canvassed the surrounding neighborhood and soon located a man matching the suspect’s description walking along the sidewalk on Jamaica Drive. The individual was stopped and detained by officers. During the initial encounter, the man provided a false name to law enforcement, according to investigators.
Through continued investigation, officers positively identified the suspect as Ray Torralbes, 69, of Pennsylvania. After conducting interviews and gathering additional evidence, detectives determined there was probable cause to arrest Torralbes on two charges: Lewd and Lascivious Exhibition with a victim under the age of 16, which is classified as a second-degree felony under Florida law, and Providing False Identification to Law Enforcement, a first-degree misdemeanor.
Torralbes was transported to the Brevard County Jail and booked on a combined $10,500 bond. Authorities have indicated that the investigation into the incident remains active and ongoing.
Anyone with additional information related to this case is encouraged to contact Detective Sergeant Taylor Payne of the Cocoa Beach Police Department Criminal Investigations Division at 321-868-3344.
As with all criminal cases, the charges filed against Torralbes are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
