An investigation into the disappearance of a 28-year-old Indialantic, Florida, man has turned into a homicide case after Palm Bay police confirmed that human remains discovered in abandoned suitcases were linked to Colie Lee Daniel. A suspect has been arrested in connection with the case.
Family’s Desperate Search
Before law enforcement announced an arrest, Daniel’s family had been publicly seeking information about his whereabouts. Relatives described his disappearance as completely out of character and said Daniel was last seen on March 20, 2026, while visiting a friend’s home. He was expected to return the following day but never did. According to family accounts, his phone and watch GPS last registered at that same residence.
Discovery of Human Remains
Palm Bay police responded around 10:50 a.m. on March 28 to the area near 1574 Bombardier Boulevard after receiving a report about an abandoned suitcase found in the grass along a trail. The location, a secluded wooded area known locally as “The Compound,” is situated near unused railroad tracks and attracts individuals on off-road vehicles.
Officers discovered a hard-shell suitcase containing a human torso wrapped in plastic bags. Investigators later located additional suitcases in the surrounding area holding more remains. They also found personal belongings, including a wallet containing Daniel’s identification.
Arrest of Lucas Sander Jones
Through surveillance camera data and vehicle records, detectives identified a white Honda Civic that had traveled to the area during the relevant timeframe. The car was linked to 19-year-old Lucas Sander Jones of Indialantic, who was identified as the friend Daniel had been visiting.
Jones was arrested on March 29 and initially charged with abuse of a dead human body, tampering with physical evidence, and possession of human remains. He was booked into the Brevard County Jail Complex and held without bond.
