Palm Bay City Councilman Chandler Langevin has been penalized by the state of Florida after election officials determined he failed to file a required campaign treasurer’s report on time and submitted other incomplete campaign filings. The enforcement action is tied to Langevin’s campaign account for Florida House District 33.
Timeline of the Violations
The issue first surfaced on September 11, 2024, when the Florida Division of Elections notified Langevin that one or more campaign reports were incomplete. The state gave him seven days to file amended reports or provide missing explanations. Records identified multiple reporting problems, including petty cash expenditures made without a corresponding petty cash withdrawal on file, expenditures exceeding a listed balance, and other discrepancies.
The most significant violation involved Langevin’s failure to file his 2024 Q3 campaign treasurer’s report, which was due on October 7, 2024. The Florida Division of Elections issued a warning letter on October 11, and a formal referral to the Florida Elections Commission followed on November 5.
Florida Elections Commission Action
On January 14, 2025, the Commission issued a Final Order finding that Langevin had violated Section 106.07(7) of the Florida Statutes governing campaign finance reporting. He was assessed a fine of $550, which was reduced to $275 under a first-time offender provision in the law.
After Langevin failed to pay the fine, the Florida Elections Commission sent a final demand for payment on September 16, 2025. When no payment was received, the case was referred for debt collection on February 4, 2026.
Langevin’s Response
When reached for comment, Langevin said he was unaware of the outstanding fine and attributed the filing issues to errors by a former campaign treasurer. He stated he would look into the matter and intended to resolve it.
Langevin has served on the Palm Bay City Council since 2023. Campaign records show he also registered as a candidate for Florida House District 33 during the 2024 cycle but did not advance past the primary election.
