A traffic stop in Brevard County led to a drug trafficking arrest Friday night after a man drove into a ditch and was found with a significant amount of cocaine, according to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities say 33-year-old Lorenzo Leming was behind the wheel when he veered off the roadway and into a ditch. Upon exiting the vehicle, Leming allegedly dropped a bag containing a white powdery substance, which deputies later identified through a field test as 29.15 grams of cocaine.
A further search of Leming revealed additional cocaine hidden in his shorts pocket, officials said.
The incident was captured on a deputy’s dash cam and led to Leming’s arrest on charges of cocaine trafficking. He was transported to the Brevard County Jail where he is being held without bond.
Sheriff Wayne Ivey, known for his candid commentary on social media, quipped that Leming’s arrest was “caught on dash cam—possibly worse than being caught on the Kiss Cam at a Coldplay concert,” and warned that “when you mess around, you’re gonna find out in Brevard County.”
Leming faces a felony trafficking charge and remains in custody as the case proceeds.
