Semi-Truck Crash Closes I-95 in North Brevard County, Killing One
MIMS, Fla. — A fatal collision involving a semi-truck and a second vehicle shut down portions of Interstate 95 in northern Brevard County on Thursday afternoon, February 26, 2026. One person was killed, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Crash Details
FHP troopers responded to the scene at approximately 2:25 p.m. in the northbound lanes of I-95 just north of Deering Parkway, near mile marker 232 in Mims. Investigators said the crash involved two vehicles: a semi-truck with a trailer and a 2004 Volvo truck. The exact sequence of events leading to the collision remains under investigation.
Following the impact, the semi-truck overturned, struck the inside shoulder guardrail, and caught fire. The driver of the semi-truck was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
Other Occupants Uninjured
The driver and passenger of the Volvo truck were uninjured and remained on scene to cooperate with investigators.
Traffic Disruptions
Authorities implemented a roadblock affecting all northbound lanes of I-95 as well as the inside southbound lane while emergency crews worked the scene and crash reconstruction efforts began. Officials said a media update would be issued once additional information became available.
