Escaped Felon Remains at Large After Fleeing Near Melbourne Hospital
MELBOURNE, Fla. — Melbourne Police are searching for a man who escaped from custody outside a Melbourne hospital on February 11, 2026, while being transported to the Brevard County Jail. The suspect, Eric Jordon Jerry, had been taken into custody on an outstanding warrant earlier that day.
Who Is Eric Jordon Jerry
Police identified the escaped individual as Eric Jordon Jerry, date of birth April 10, 2001, described as a Black male approximately 6 feet tall and 160 pounds, from Melbourne. He was taken into custody on February 11, 2026, without incident after officers contacted him in connection with an outstanding warrant.
How He Escaped
During transport to the Brevard County Jail, Jerry reported a medical issue. Transport officers diverted to an Orlando Health Hospital on Wickham Road to address his reported condition. As officers were removing Jerry from the vehicle outside the hospital, he broke free and fled on foot. As of noon on February 12, he had not been located.
Active Search Ongoing
Melbourne Police issued a public alert asking anyone with information about Jerry’s whereabouts to contact authorities immediately. Community members were asked not to approach Jerry if located but to call 911. The investigation into his escape and his apprehension remained ongoing.
As with all criminal cases, the outstanding charges against Eric Jordon Jerry are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
