Brevard Public Schools has achieved the highest graduation rate in district history, recording a 92.7% high school graduation rate for the 2024–2025 school year — surpassing Florida’s own newly set statewide record of 92.2%, according to data released by the Florida Department of Education.
A Historic Jump from Last Year
The new figure represents a significant leap from the prior year’s 89.8% rate, marking a nearly three-percentage-point improvement in a single year. Florida’s statewide record was announced on January 13, 2026, making Brevard’s achievement all the more notable as it exceeded the new state benchmark.
“Our graduation rate reflects the hard work of students and the dedication of our educators,” said BPS Chief of Schools James Rehmer, crediting robust student support systems and a districtwide focus on keeping seniors on track toward graduation.
Schools With the Biggest Gains
Several campuses stood out for dramatic year-over-year improvements. Brevard Virtual School led all schools with a gain of 12.2 percentage points, followed by Bayside High School (+10.1), Cocoa High School (+8.6), Eau Gallie High School (+6.9), Astronaut High School (+6.1), and Palm Bay Magnet High School (+5.3). Additional gains were also reported at Melbourne High, Heritage High, Rockledge High, Cocoa Beach Jr./Sr. High, Titusville High, Space Coast Jr./Sr. High, and Viera High.
Perfect Scores and High Performers
West Shore Jr./Sr. High School and Edgewood Jr./Sr. High School each posted a perfect 100% graduation rate. Merritt Island High School, Satellite High School, and Viera High School all finished above the 98% mark.
Superintendent Credits Districtwide Effort
Superintendent Dr. Mark Rendell emphasized that the graduation rate reflects years of work across all grade levels, not just the final year of high school. The district honored the Class of 2025, calling the record a milestone made possible by students, teachers, staff, and community partners working together to ensure every senior crossed the stage with a diploma.
How Florida Measures Graduation Rates
Florida uses a four-year adjusted cohort graduation rate, which measures the percentage of students who earn a standard diploma within four years of first entering ninth grade, while accounting for documented transfers and certain student removals.
