Runaway Donkey Causes a Stir on I-95 in Brevard County
Brevard County motorists had an unusual sight on Monday when a runaway donkey, later identified as Clyde, was spotted near Interstate 95.
According to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO), several concerned citizens called 911 after mistaking Clyde for a horse running wild near Mims. Deputies quickly arrived but initially saw no sign of the animal. A closer look revealed Clyde hiding in the bushes alongside the interstate.
At first, the stubborn donkey refused to budge, making the rescue a challenge. However, deputies used some clever persuasion to earn his trust. With the help of additional BCSO units and Florida Highway Patrol troopers, they safely secured Clyde and brought his adventure to an end.
Sheriff Wayne Ivey praised his team’s efforts, joking, “I can only assume what they promised him out there in the woods, but whatever it was, it worked to get this escapee back where he belonged!”
While it remains a mystery how Clyde ended up near the highway, his safe return was a relief to both law enforcement and passing drivers.
This unexpected donkey drama certainly added some excitement to the day in Brevard County!
