At approximately 11:23 a.m. on March 9, officers from the Cocoa Beach Police Department were dispatched to the 1600 block of North Atlantic Avenue following a report that an older man had committed a lewd act in front of a young child. According to the child’s account given to officers, Torralbes approached the child on the boardwalk area and exposed his genitals.
The child’s father quickly spotted Torralbes after the alleged incident. Along with a nearby bystander, the father pursued the suspect as he fled westbound across North Atlantic Avenue. The chase concluded near an access gate connected to a nearby resort along the beach, according to police.
How Police Located the Suspect
“Responding Cocoa Beach police officers and detectives quickly canvassed the surrounding area and located a male matching the suspect’s description walking on the sidewalk along Jamaica Drive,” said Cocoa Beach Police Detective Sergeant Taylor Payne.
When officers detained the man, he initially provided them with a false name. Through additional interviews and a review of evidence, detectives confirmed his identity as Ray Torralbes, 69, of Pennsylvania, and established probable cause to place him under arrest.

Torralbes was charged with lewd and lascivious exhibition involving a victim under 16, classified as a second-degree felony under Florida law, and providing false identification to law enforcement, a first-degree misdemeanor. He was transported to the Brevard County Jail Complex, where jail records indicate he was being held on a $301,000 bond.
