Edgar Campa-Palafox, Vice President of Business Development at the Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast (Space Coast EDC), has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Florida Economic Development Council (FEDC). The FEDC is an organization of more than 500 economic development professionals focused on strengthening Florida’s competitive position and fostering statewide economic growth.

The appointment reflects the Space Coast EDC’s ongoing dedication to advancing economic development across the state. By placing one of its senior leaders on the FEDC board, the organization aims to bolster professional capacity, support the business community, and help expand the talent pipelines that fuel Florida’s economic engine.
Campa-Palafox’s Role at the Space Coast EDC
Campa-Palafox first joined the Space Coast EDC in August 2020 as Director of Business Development. In his current role as Vice President, he oversees the design and execution of a countywide business development program that targets both attracting new companies to Brevard County and helping established businesses expand. He also serves as a primary point of contact for partners and clients, working to promote and grow economic development opportunities throughout the region.
More Than 14 Years of Economic Development Experience
With over 14 years in the economic development field, Campa-Palafox has built a career spanning public-private partnerships, county government, and municipal economic development agencies in Florida, Texas, and Arizona. His professional background covers a wide range of disciplines, including economic research, incentives policy, business attraction and retention, supplier development, industrial development, and entrepreneurial development.
Before arriving at the Space Coast EDC, he held positions as Economic Development Coordinator with Alachua County, Florida; Senior Economic Development Specialist with the City of El Paso, Texas; and Business Development Specialist with Tucson Regional Economic Opportunities in Tucson, Arizona.
Academic Background and Professional Certifications
Campa-Palafox holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a double major in Business Economics and Entrepreneurship from the University of Arizona. He also completed coursework in business and economics at the University Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, Spain.
His professional credentials include the Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) designation from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC), the Master Economic Development Practitioner (MEDP) designation from the Advanced Economic Development Leadership (AEDL) program — a collaborative initiative among Clemson University, Texas Christian University, the University of Southern Mississippi, and the University of New Mexico — and a Business Incubation Management (BIM) certificate from the International Business Innovation Association (InBIA).

The Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast is a private, not-for-profit organization led by President and CEO Lynda L. Weatherman. It operates with a budget of nearly $3 million, a staff of 15, and five outside consultants.
